Table of contents

There are many books that deal with construction but our aim is to give you a varied list of different genres that will help you better understand what this world is all about, whether you are an amateur, a professional or just curious.

Critical Chain. Eliyahu M. Goldratt

The first book we propose is written by the business management guru, Eliyahu M. Goldratt. He is the author of several business-related novels. This business novel will allow you to have a different point of view on the management of your construction and renovation project. It narrates different methodologies or techniques that can be followed to improve any type of business project. As an example, without falling into spoilers, here are two laws that have a direct impact on the management of construction work:

  1. Murphy's law; if there is a chance that something will go wrong, it will go wrong as a result.
  2. Parkinson's law: work is stretched until it takes up all the time we have available.

If you want to overcome these laws, don't hesitate to read Critical Chain :)

2. The Pillars of the Earth. Ken Follet

This is one of the best-known novels by the famous British novelist Ken Follet. We are not going to go into summaries because it is worth immersing yourself in the intrigue that the author reveals, but if you want to be entertained and learn more about architecture and history, this is the novel for you. It develops the beginning of gothic architecture in the 12th century, as well as how it flourishes from romanesque architecture.

Documentary Manual for the Construction Manager. I.M. Mora

Our third recommendation is related to the figure of the construction manager. Being a site manager is a great responsibility, as it is one of the most important figures in the construction process. This Manual is very useful for any construction company, because it describes the documentation needed to start any construction project, and explains how to better manage the whole process.

4. Practical Construction Manual. Denis Walton

This is a manual that can solve any doubt related to your reform and construction project. It studies the most general aspects of the construction of a building; plot, foundations, pillars, walls, doors, etc. It also includes chapters related to materials and the different installations, whether they are electrical, plumbing, or even painting!

We recommend it, because it is very practical and easy to understand, with more than 500 illustrations. It is a book that has become a basic for construction professionals, as they can learn about all the facets of any construction project.

5. Structure, or why things don't fall down. J.E. Gordon

Our last recommendation is a very entertaining book for the most curious, those of you who are eager to learn. In its 400 pages, a large part of the sciences of the theory of structures and the resistance of materials are explained. The author explains, in clear and informative language, how structural elements of different loads have influenced the development of living beings.

Well, here are the recommendations that we give you from Tribboo. We hope that these books will help you to enrich your knowledge and learn more about the world of construction or at least, different points of view.

See you in the next article! We look forward to seeing you at the Tribboo.
