1. What is an invoice?

An invoice is a tax document issued for any purchase or sale of goods or services. This issuance of invoices is mandatory for all self-employed and companies that carry out commercial operations, as well as for those who carry out construction work.

2. What should it include?

The invoice must contain detailed information about the transaction, such as the name of the buyer and seller, the description of the product or service, the unit price, the total price, the percentage of taxes applied, the method of payment and the date of issue.

For self-employed construction workers, it is necessary to take into account the current legislation for the issuance of invoices and the associated accounting. Thus, the invoice must include the following data:

  •  Freelancer's data: name, surname, address, NIF/CIF and membership number.

  •  Customer data: name, surname, address and NIF/CIF.

  •  Description of the activity or product: details of the work performed or products delivered.

  • Quantity and price: quantity of products or hours/days worked and corresponding unit price.

  • Taxes: the type of tax that applies, the tax percentage and the total amount.

  • Total: the total amount to be paid by the customer.

  • Method of payment: the accepted method of payment.

  • Date of issue: the date on which the invoice was issued.

In addition to these data, it is also necessary to attach a copy of the invoice to the company's accounting records in order to be able to make the corresponding tax declarations.

It is important to remember that all invoices issued must comply with current legislation in terms of presentation, content, format and updating. For this, it is advisable to have an invoicing program or an application to issue invoices quickly and easily.
